2026-PELS Vice-Chair Mary Ellen Ellwood

Mary Ellen “Mel” is currently the Vice Chair of Mid-Northeast Multi-District PELS 2026, Assistant Rotary Zone Coordinator for Membership and is the Treasurer for District 7255.

Mel has been steadily involved in PETS/PELS since 2016, first as an AG (2016-2019), then District Registrar, a learning leader, and then a Member of the Committee when she was preparing to be District Governor in 2021-22.

She joined the Rotary Club of Riverhead in 2008 and immediately volunteered to run the club's March Madness Pool, thinking she would run a college basketball pool. Nevertheless, she proceeded with the club’s raffle, raising the most money since the raffle’s inception.

Mel quickly moved into club leadership roles, culminating in Club President 2013-2014. Over her years as a Rotarian, Mel has held a variety of positions in her club and District, including Membership Chair, District Conference Committees, District Nominating Committee, and Bylaws Committee for both the District and her Club. In addition, Mel is a graduate and facilitator
for RLI and a multiple Paul Harris recipient.

Mel is a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker with Douglas Elliman on the North Fork of Long Island with 20 years of experience. Previously, she worked in the Public Relations Industry as a PR Professional and then as a Human Resources Director. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends – she is the oldest of nine children and has 23 nieces and nephews.
